CMU Announces Entire 2024-25 Men's Basketball Schedule

Chippewas will host 14 home games at McGuirk Arena in 2024-25; Toilet Paper Toss scheduled for Western Michigan on Saturday, Jan. 25; non-conference slate features high-major games at Marquette, Minnesota, Mississippi State, and Arizona; men’s basketball season/single-game tickets are on sale now!
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich.—Featuring a 14-game home slate, non-conference games at Marquette, Minnesota, Mississippi State, and Arizona, and the annual Toilet Paper Toss set for a Jan. 25 home game against Western Michigan, Central Michigan announced its entire 2024-25 men's basketball schedule on Wednesday.
The 31-game schedule includes 18 Mid-American Conference contests, a three-game Marquette Challenge tournament, and two MAC-SBC Challenge contests. The MAC Championship is scheduled for March 13-16 in Cleveland at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse.
The highly anticipated Toilet Paper Toss Game is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 25 when the Chippewas will host Western Michigan (7 p.m.). Additional information regard the game will be released at a later date. Tickets can be reserved for this game now.
"We are excited to be practicing in preparation for the season," Central Michigan Head Coach Tony Barbee said. "We have several players returning but have added a variety of talented newcomers to the roster. I am excited to get started and excited for our fans to watch this team in action."
As year four of the Barbee Era begins, Central Michigan opens its season at South Alabama for the MAC-SBC Challenge on Nov. 4. The Chippewas will then play three straight contests in the Marquette Challenge which will feature its first home game (Stony Brook on Nov. 7), and away games at Marquette (Nov. 11) and George Mason (Nov. 13).
The non-conference schedule also includes home contests vs. Central State (Nov. 20), Purdue Northwest (Dec. 1), and Cleary (Dec. 30). Away games include Minnesota (Nov. 25), at Aquinas (Dec. 5), at Valparaiso (Dec. 14), at Mississippi State (Dec. 17) in Jackson, Miss. at the Mississippi Coliseum, and at Arizona (Dec. 21).
MAC play begins on Saturday, Jan. 4 when the Chippewas host Ohio at McGuirk Arena. Home league games include contests against Eastern Michigan (Jan. 14), Ball State (Jan. 21), Western Michigan (Jan. 25), Bowling Green (Feb. 1), Miami (OH) (Feb. 4), Akron (Feb. 15), Buffalo (Feb. 25), and Northern Illinois (March 7). Road league games include at Akron (Jan. 7), at Toledo (Jan. 11), at Northern Illinois (Jan. 18), at Buffalo (Jan. 28), at Kent State (Feb. 11), at Ohio (Feb. 18), at Western Michigan (Feb. 22), at Eastern Michigan (March 1), and at Ball State (March 4).
One opponent that has yet to be scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 8 as the Chippewas will host a Sun Belt Conference foe for their second yearly MAC-SBC Challenge contest.
The Mid-American Conference Championship is scheduled for Thursday, March 13-Saturday, March 15 at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland, Ohio.
The year begins with a home exhibition game on Sunday, Oct. 27 vs. Hillsdale College.
Central Michigan is coming of a 2023-24 season that saw it finish 12-6 in MAC play, its best league record in 10 years (since 2014-15). The Chippewas also went 18-14 overall, its best season since 2018-19. Barbee became the fifth CMU mentor and first in nearly a decade to earn the MAC Coach of the Year Award. He was also named the National Association of Basketball Coaches District Coach of the Year and was a finalist for the Ben Jobe National Coach of the Year.
Returning senior point guard Anthony Pritchard established himself as one of the league's top talents, earning the MAC Defensive Player of the Year Award while being named to the all-conference first team and NABC All-District team in 2023-24. He recently was named the MAC's Preseason Player of the Year by Blue Ribbon Magazine. Other returnees include guard Cayden Vasko, center Hunter Harding, and guard Shaedon Simpson.
