Field Hockey Drops Season Finale to No. 4 Ohio State

Cameron Pluciennik broke open the scoring in the first quarter, tabbing her third goal of the season. She was assisted by Mallory Camryn, who finished the season with four assists and a team-high 10 goals.
Despite a 3-14 overall finish, the Chippewas scored 28 goals for a total of 80 points in the 2024 season. CMU was scoreless in games just twice in the season, against Maine and Michigan.
Against the Buckeyes, CMU took six shots, three of which were on goal.
Chippewa senior Coletta Beeler went the distance in goal in her final game for CMU, tallying 11 saves. The McVeytown, Pa. native closed out her career with 150 saves in 27 games played.
Also competing in their final game were seniors Simone Potgieter, Kaitlyn Bowker, Isabella D'Alessandro and Hannah Havrilla, who with Beeler, round out five of CMU's seven seniors.
Potgieter, a defender, played a total of 50 games for CMU. In three seasons with the Chippewas, she totaled four defensive saves. Bowker made 50 starts on 69 total appearances in four years, scored six goals and made five assists for a total of 17 points.
D'Alessandro made 51 appearances in four seasons, scoring three goals in her time for CMU. Midfielder Havrilla, the program's only fifth-year, played 81 games, 79 of which were starts. She scored her first career goal in 2021, and totaled three assists on her career.
CMU also graduates Chloe Ward and Carly Kubacka. Ward, who battled through injury during her career, made 19 appearances and five starts for CMU. Kubacka, a forward, spent the 2023 and 2024 seasons with the Chippewas. She scored her first career goal during the 2024 season on Oct. 18 at Kent State.
