Baseball 3rd in MAC Poll

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The Central Michigan baseball team finished third in the Mid-American Conference preseason coaches poll, released today, Tuesday.
The Chippewas, who tied for second last season, finished with 68 points from the league's 11 coaches.
Kent State, the defending regular season champion, finished first in the poll with 98 points and eight first-place votes. Defending league tournament champion Ball State, with 93 points and three first-place votes, finished second.
The remainder of the poll: 4-Western Michigan, 5-Ohio, 6-Toledo, 7-Miami, 8-Bowling Green, 9-Eastern Michigan, 10-Northern Illinois, 11-Akron.
Kent State received eight first-place votes as the league tournament champion. Western Michigan received two and Ball State garnered one.
The top six teams in the regular season standings advance to the MAC Tournament, which is scheduled for May 22-26 at Mercy Health Stadium in Avon, Ohio.
CMU and first-year coach Jake Sabol open the season on Friday, Feb. 16 with two games in Nacogdoches, Texas, the first at 3 p.m. (ET) against Texas A&M – Corpus Christi and the second, at 7:30 p.m. (ET), against Stephen F. Austin.
