CMU put up a 12-4 run on the Cardinals in response to a brief 20-point deficit
MUNCIE, Ind. — Central Michigan Women's Basketball dropped a 78-54 decision at Mid-American Conference frontrunner Ball State Wednesday night.
The Chippewas put together a 12-4 run to end the contest that featured a barrage of six offensive rebounds in the final four minutes to overtake the Cardinals in total rebounds, 33-32. Tamara Ortiz (Columbus, Ohio / Westerville South) netted a pair of three-pointers in the run, the first of which after three straight offensive rebounds.
Rochelle Norris (Stafford, Va. / New Hope) led CMU overall with 12 points on a five-for-eight clip from the field to go with five rebounds and a block in just under 20 minutes of action.
Lisa Tesson (Montréal, Québec / Royal Crown) led the overall rebounding effort with seven to go with seven points. Ortiz finished with eight points off the bench in her second game back from her extended hiatus due to injury.
Central Michigan Women's Basketball travels to Kalamazoo, Mich. Saturday for the season's rematch with Western Michigan. The Chippewas will look to complete a combined season sweep of the Broncos and Eastern Michigan, which would make Head Coach Kristin Haynie just the second coach in the last 50 years to do so in her inaugural season.
