Baustad Leads Women's Golf with a 75 in Final Round at Huntsville

OWENS CROSSROADS, Ala. – Mackenzie Baustad shot a 3-over par 75 on Wednesday to lead the Central Michigan women's golf team during the final round of the Huntsville.org Intercollegiate on the Highlands Course at the Robert Trent Jones at Hampton Cove.
Baustad's 75 matched Ashley Goh's first-round 75 for the low round of the tournament by a Chippewa.
CMU posted a 311 team score, its best of the three-round tournament, on Wednesday for a 963 total and a tie for 12th with Southern Illinois in the 16-team field. The Chippewas opened on Monday with a 321 and then shot 331 in Tuesday's second round.
Also for CMU on Wednesday, Rachel Niskanen shot 78, Lexi Schulman and Ashley Goh both carded a 79, and Rachel Kauflin posted an 82.
Goh finished the tournament in a tie for 34th with a 233 total, while Niskanen (241) tied for 52nd, and Kauflin (245) tied for 60th. Baustad finished at 249 and Schulman finished at 254.
The field comprised 80 players.
Lauren Thompson of Lipscomb shot a final-round 1-under 71 to finish with a 212 total and a wire-to-wire victory. Lipscomb's Ally Williams (74) was second, six shots back.
Lipscomb posted a 293 team total on Wednesday to finish at 878 and win the tournament by 28 shots over Troy (906). Oakland (909) was third.
The Chippewas' next tournament is the Babs Steffens Invitational, hosted by Stetson, in Debary, Fla. March 25-26.
