CMU’s leading scorer, a Pittsburgh-native, notched her second hat trick in three days; Lacrosse drops midweek result to Pittsburgh, 18-3
PITTSBURGH — Central Michigan Lacrosse dropped its final non-conference matchup of 2024 Tuesday in an 18-3 affair at Pittsburgh.
Â
Skye DePrado (Pittsburgh, Pa. / North Allegheny) made the most of her de facto homecoming with her third straight appearance with a hat trick, collecting all three strikes for the Chippewas. The junior scored four times against Lindenwood (March 15), prior to a two-game injury hiatus, then collected three goals each against Youngstown State Sunday and the Panthers Tuesday.
Â
Alexa Martel (Rochester, N.Y. / Greece Olympia) continued her quest to stay among the top goalies in NCAA I this season, recording her ninth double-digit performance in saves (10) for 140 total in 2024, already the second-most in a single-season in program history, behind only her own record of 175 from 2023.
Â
Amanda Hilderbrandt (Rochester, N.Y. / Hilton) and Anna Farrar (Milton, Ga. / Cambridge) each collected an assist in the contest to maximize CMU's points opportunities Tuesday, as DePrado's first strike came through a free position opportunity.
Â
Avery Wagnon (Humble, Texas / Atascocita) led the Chippewa defense with career-highs of four ground balls and three caused turnovers. Wagnon's efforts helped CMU win the turnover battle overall, 17-15, for just the second time this season after turning over Lindenwood 20 times just over two weeks ago.
Â
Central Michigan Lacrosse returns to Mid-American Conference action, and the CMU Lacrosse Complex, April 7 to host Robert Morris at Noon for the rematch of the 2023 MAC title game. The Chippewas will return home once more before the end of the regular season, hosting Akron (April 21) for senior day.
