CMU's Ashley Goh to Play in Prestigious PGA Works Collegiate Championship

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Don't close the books just yet on Ashley Goh's Central Michigan golf career.
Goh, who will graduate from CMU with a bachelor of arts degree with a major in interior design this weekend, has accepted an invitation to play next week in the PGA Works Collegiate Championship at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.
The event brings together minority collegiate golfers from across the country, many of whom are enrolled in historically black colleges and universities, and Hispanic and other minority-serving institutions.
"I'm grateful and thankful for the opportunity and excited to just be there," said Goh, who last week finished sixth in the Mid-American Conference Championship, the final event of her intercollegiate career.
Goh, who hails from Johor Bahru, Malaysia, is one of some 200 players who will play in the 54-hole, stroke-play event, which runs from Monday-Wednesday, May 6-8.
"We're very proud of Ashley and all that she accomplished while playing at Central Michigan," CMU coach Ryan Williams said. "This is a very deserving honor for her and a nice way for her to end her collegiate career."
The PGA Works Collegiate Championship was created in 1986 to highlight competitive golf programs at underserved and under-represented minority-serving institutions and to educate and inspire student-athletes to pursue career opportunities in the business of golf.
Last year, 197 student-athletes representing 58 institutions participated in the tournament.
TPC Sawgrass is among the nation's top golf facilities and home to THE PLAYERS Championship, one of the PGA Tour's premier events.
The event will be carried live on Golf Channel from 3-6 p.m. Monday-Wednesday, May 6-8 and replayed at 9 p.m. on Monday, 11 p.m. on Tuesday, and 7 p.m. and 11 p.m. on Wednesday.
