CLEVELAND, Ohio—MAC Medal of Excellence award winners including Central Michigan honorees senior softball player Abbey Tolmie and senior baseball player Nick Dardas were honored Thursday evening at the Mid-American Conference Honors Dinner Ceremony hosted at the Marriott Downtown Key Tower in Cleveland.
Held annually in conjunction with the MAC spring meetings, the MAC Awards Dinner recognizes various achievements across the league's spectrum. League awards are presented for the top men's athletic program, top women's athletic program, Trailblazer Award, and institutional sportsmanship award.
Tolmie and Dardas' MAC Medal of Excellence Awards were announced on May 24.
The Medal of Excellence award is presented annually to one male and one female student-athlete from the graduating class of each of the 12 MAC institutions. To be considered for the award, which is among the most prestigious annually bestowed by the league, a student-athlete must carry a 3.5 or better grade point average, displayed athletic excellence, leadership and campus/community service.
Attending the dinner with Tolmie's and Dardas' family and friends, were Zyzelewski Athletic Director Amy Folan, and Deputy Athletic Director Tangela Cheatham.
