Hot Bats and a Split at Buffalo for Softball on Day One

Central Michigan scores 10 runs in the sixth inning of game one to run-rule the Bulls.
CMU shifts to 21-18 on the season and 13-7 in conference play, while the Bulls move to 21-27 overall and 7-13 in the MAC.
Game 1
CMU scored first with three runs in the top of the first inning. The runs came via an RBI single by London Williams and a two-run home run from Grace Koenig. The Chippewas chased the Buffalo starting pitcher in the first inning after the home run.
Mackenzie Langan earned the start for CMU and worked a 1-2-3 inning in the bottom of the first and second innings.
In the top of the third inning, Jenna Kuzara and Alexa Carter both hit their eighth home runs of the season, moving CMU's lead to 5-0. The Bulls tacked on two in the bottom of the inning with an RBI triple, and one more with an RBI double.
In the fourth inning, an RBI single off the bat of Rache Cairo extended CMU's lead to three runs, 6-3.
A solo home run led off the bottom of the inning for Buffalo and the Bulls took the lead with back-to-back RBI singles at 7-6.
In the top of the sixth, the bats absolutely erupted for the Chippewas. CMU scored 10 runs in the inning to reach the final score of 16-7 in six complete innings.
In the sixth, chaos ensued with a single from Angela Petrovitch, a single from Rachel Cairo, and a walk for Tori Briggs. Petrovitch scored to even it at seven on a passed ball.
Emma Lotus reached via error by the second baseman which scored Ashley Bila and Rachel Cairo to put CMU up by two. Jenna Kuzara then singled, and London Williams followed that up with a three-run home run. With the bases now clear, Alexa Carter ripped a double and was moved to third with a fly ball from Grace Koenig.
On a single from Cierra Laska, Carter scored. The lineup started again and Angela Petrovitch recorded another single, her second of the inning that advanced Laska.
Rachel Cairo singled to load the bases, and a single up the middle from Tori Briggs scored Laska and Petrovitch. Emma Lotus then singled to score Cairo, and an RBI groundout off the bat of Kuzara scored Cairo.
The Bulls led the bottom of the inning off with a walk, but that runner was stranded after two strikeouts from Aubrey Strelow and a ground out.
Langan threw the first three innings for CMU, surrendering all seven runs, but collecting four strikeouts.
Strelow entered in relief in the fourth and finished the game with just two hits allowed, eight strikeouts and just two walks.
Game 2
In the second game, the Chippewas scored first once in the first inning on a sacrifice fly from Grace Koenig. The fly ball scored Jenna Kuzara who reached on a fielder's choice. The Chippewas added another run with an RBI single from Kuzara in the second.
Kuzara's ball scored Rachel Cairo who walked. London Williams hit her second home run of the day, her second three-run shot of the day, and scored Jenna Kuzara and Emma Lotus. CMU led 5-0 headed to the bottom of the second.
The Bulls scored two runs in the second with a two-run home run.
In the third, CMU scored via an RBI groundout from Rachel Cairo and Buffalo answered with an RBI single in it's half of the inning. Central Michigan scored two more runs in the top of the fifth inning, an RBI double from Lotus and when Kuzara reached via error to score Lotus.
The Bulls tied the game in the bottom of that inning with a bases loaded walk and a grand slam, 8-8.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, Buffalo scored two more runs on an RBI double down the left field line to reach the final of 10-8.
Brooklyn Comapu started the game for CMU and threw 4.2 innings with seven strikeouts but issued seven runs. Cierra Laska, who ultimately took the loss, entered with the bases loaded and surrendered the grand slam. Strelow entered in relief again and closed the game with one strikeout across two batters faced.
