Grace Lehto Named Beth Pawlak Award Winner for Second Straight Year

The Beth Pawlak Award is given to a member of the CMU Softball Team each year in memory of Pawlak who passed away in her junior season in 1998 as a memorial award.
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Grace Lehto was named the winner of the Beth Pawlak award for the second straight year. The team voted award is given to a member of the team who embraces dedication, leadership, hard work and a positive attitude serving as an inspiration to those she encounters both on and off the field.
An Eaton Rapids, Mich. native, Lehto graduated this spring with a degree in biochemistry with a 3.90 GPA. Lehto will be returning to Mount Pleasant to attend the Central Michigan School of Medicine and start her journey to becoming a physician.
In her athletic career, Lehto shined in many ways in the circle for the Chippewas. Lehto finished her career with 131 career appearances, with 50 career wins, 61 career complete games, 567 career strikeouts, 623.3 innings pitched, struck out 195 in the 2023 season, and recorded five saves in the 2024 season.
