Baseball Earns Team Academic Excellence Award

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The Central Michigan baseball team has received the Team Academic Excellence Award from the American Baseball Coaches Association for the 2024 season.
The award goes to collegiate and high school programs that have posted a cumulative grade point average of 3.00 or above during the academic year. The Chippewas are one of 470 collegiate programs to have received the award.
"We're very proud of our student-athletes," said Jake Sabol, who is entering his second season as the Chippewas' coach. "This is a prestigious award, well earned, and another example that our priorities are on the academic side as well as in the athletic arena."
It marks the fourth time that the CMU has been so honored since the ABCA instituted the award in 2016. The Chippewas also received the award in 2016, 2019 and 2020.
