Football's B.J. Harris Named MAC Offensive Player of the Week

Running back B.J. Harris is the MAC co-Offensive Player of the Week following his 151-yard rushing performance in the Chippewas’ 37-34 MAC-opening win over Ball State.
CLEVELAND, Ohio—Central Michigan senior running back B.J. Harris was named the Mid-American Conference Football Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday morning. Harris is CMU's first MAC weekly honoree of the year.
On Saturday afternoon, Harris rushed for a career-high 151 yards on eight carries and set up CMU's game-winning touchdown with a key 25-yard gain. He also ran for a career-long 71-yard run and 41-yard run, both which were key plays in the game. On the day, Harris averaged 18.9 yards per carry and also caught two passes for five yards. In addition, Harris led the Chippewas in all-purpose yards with a career-high 156. The 100-yard rushing game marked CMU's first of the 2024 season.
A Chattanooga, Tenn. native and Missouri transfer, Harris leads the Chippewas in all rushing statistics: total yardage (232), average yards rushing per game (58.0), and yards per carry (9.7) on 24 carries and four games played. He also has one touchdown, a 9-yard run in the season opener vs. Central Connecticut State.
In his two-year, 14-game career at Central Michigan, Harris has rushed for 271 yards on 43 carries and one touchdown and caught five passes for 38 yards with a long reception of 22 yards. He is averaging 6.3 yards per carry.
Central Michigan (2-2, 1-0 MAC) plays its final non conference game when it hosts San Diego State (1-2, 0-0 MWC) on Saturday at Kelly/Shorts Stadium. Kickoff is at 3:30 p.m. ET for a nationally televised game on CBS Sports Network.
