Borgman logs seven saves in return to starting role; Chippewas pin league title contender to one goal
AMHERST, N.Y. — Central Michigan Soccer stood toe-to-toe with the Mid-American Conference's current second seed Buffalo Sunday afternoon to cede a 1-0 defeat at the end of its weekend road swing.
Â
Brylee Borgman (Norton Shores, Mich. / Mona Shores) reclaimed her role between the posts with seven saves in the contest, six before half time and five before the Bulls' 43rd minute goal by Jasmine Guerber, two-time MAC Offensive Player of the Week this season and the league's leader in on-target shots.
Â
Rachel Jackson (Bloomfield Hills, Mich. / Detroit Country Day) tallied both of CMU's shots on-goal for the contest, though the Chippewas had multiple quality opportunities scattered throughout competition that were broken up in service or mid-flight.
Â
Melaina Troy's (Rochester Hills, Mich. / Rochester) attempt in the 78th minute was taken from the right post just outside the 6', took a heroic effort from 2024 All-MAC First Team defender Frederique St. Jean to deny the equalizer.
Â
Central Michigan Soccer returns to Mount Pleasant Thursday to host Kent State (Oct. 16; 7 p.m. ET) for its breast cancer awareness match. The Chippewas have one home match after the Golden Flashes: a visit from Eastern Michigan (Oct. 29; 3 p.m. ET) concludes the 2025 regular season.
