Izzy Swiercz led the Chippewas offensively for the second consecutive night as Volleyball drops a match to Bowling Green.
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Izzy Swiercz has found an offensive groove for the Chippewas and continues to be a high performing scorer on the right side for CMU.
The Volleyball team dropped a three-set match to Bowling Green on Saturday afternoon, (22-25, 23-25, 23-25). For the third straight match in Mid-American Conference play, CMU was right in the game in closely contested sets but just were unable to pull out a victory.
Central Michigan falls to 3-13 (0-4 MAC) and Bowling Green moves to 10-6 (4-0).
The Chippewas and Falcons played all three sets incredibly tight, finding themselves knotted at 21 late in the first set. Bowling Green took the victory, 25-22 in the set.
Central Michigan hit .286 as a team, with 4 kills (.571) from Swiercz, and five kills for Grace Thomas out of the middle (.625). Keelyn Muell, who played all points as the setter, charted 23 assists in the set.
In set two, again, a close scoring set, the set was tied at 23, but BGSU used an attack error from CMU and a kill of their own to take the second set. Both defenses showed up big time in the second set, as both teams hit below .100. The Chippewas charted four blocks in set two, including a solo from Thomas, compared to the one for Bowling Green.
The match ended after the third set, as CMU fell 23-25 to the Falcons in the final battle.
Central Michigan hit .120 as a team and held Bowling Green to .180. The two teams each recorded six aces, and the Chippewas out blocked the Falcons 8-6.
Next, the Chippewas will host Eastern Michigan on Tuesday, October 7th at 6 p.m. in McGuirk Arena.
