Central Michigan is competing with Eastern Michigan and Western Michigan to donate the most items.
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich.—With the goal of making an impact in the Mount Pleasant community, Central Michigan Athletics is hosting its annual Fired Up Food Drive this month from November 1-22. Central Michigan Athletics is competing against Eastern Michigan and Western Michigan to see which athletic department can donate the most food and items.
The general public, fans, students, university staff, and student-athletes are encouraged to donate any non-perishable food items, care items and/or other items that our community may need. Popular items include rice, beans, soup, care products and other products. CMU Athletics drop off locations are situated at the Indoor Athletic Complex (in front of the Dick Enberg Academic Center), Student Athletic Center, Rose Hall (West Entrance in front of the athletic department), and UC Volunteer Center.
All items will be sent to the CMU Food Pantry.
"Our goal is to make an impact in the Mount Pleasant community and the Fired Up Food Drive is always one of our most successful events," Zyzelewski Family Vice President/Director of Athletics Amy Folan said. "We encourage the general public, students, university staff, and fans at our athletic events to donate to this worthwhile cause and help us defeat both Eastern Michigan and Western Michigan."
Last year, Central Michigan Athletics donated 2,258 items and 1,750 pounds of food.
