CMU Student-Athletes Set More Academic Records in 2025 Fall Semester

Chippewas achieve a school-record 3.45 combined fall 2025 semester grade point average; CMU Football surpasses its own school-record with a 3.33 fall 2025 semester GPA; Chippewas complete 54th consecutive semester in which student-athletes achieved a 3.0 cumulative grade point average.
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich.—Once again, Central Michigan University student-athletes continue to set academic records. For the second consecutive semester, CMU student-athletes combined to set the school's record for all-time highest semester grade point average, this time with a 3.45 mark. In addition, Central Michigan Athletics completed its 54th consecutive semester in which student-athletes registered a 3.0 cumulative grade point average or higher.
The Central Michigan student-athletes' semester grade point averages continues to climb with each semester as it has climbed from a 3.17 in fall 2023, to 3.24 in spring 2024, to 3.33 in fall 2024 to 3.39 in spring 2025, and now a school-record 3.45 in fall 2025.
A variety of CMU's academic accomplishments during the fall 2025 semester include:

The Central Michigan student-athletes' semester grade point averages continues to climb with each semester as it has climbed from a 3.17 in fall 2023, to 3.24 in spring 2024, to 3.33 in fall 2024 to 3.39 in spring 2025, and now a school-record 3.45 in fall 2025.
A variety of CMU's academic accomplishments during the fall 2025 semester include:
- Central Michigan student-athletes concluded the fall 2025 semester with a school-record 3.45 cumulative grade point average. It is the second consecutive record-breaking semester as the Chippewas accumulated a 3.39 semester GPA in spring 2025.
- For the second straight semester, CMU Football posted its all-time high grade point average for a semester with a 3.33 GPA in fall 2025. Last semester, the Chippewas posted a 3.23 in spring 2025.
- At the end of the fall 2025 semester, 360 student-athletes or 84 percent of all student-athletes achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher, 254 student-athletes (56 percent) achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher, and 57 had a 4.0 GPA. Those numbers are all way higher than the spring 2025 semester numbers.
- At the conclusion of the fall 2025 semester, the CMU women's cross country team registered the highest fall semester team grade point average (3.80).
- The women's cross country team accumulated the highest cumulative team grade point average with a 3.79 team GPA.
- Fourteen out of Central Michigan's 16 sports programs posted a team cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
- The CMU baseball and women's golf programs tied for the highest team grade point average increase from the 2024 fall semester to the 2025 fall semester (+0.22).
