Chippewas continue Spring Break road trip with 2-game mid-week series at Marshall
The Chippewas (2-13) continue their Spring Break road trip with a two-game series at Marshall on Tuesday. They then go to Athens, Ohio for their Mid-American Conference-opening series next weekend.
CMU got on the board first on Sunday at Liberty on Cayden Smith's second-inning RBI single.
The Flames (11-4) tied it in the third with a sacrifice fly and then went ahead with a three-run fourth, scoring on a sacrifice fly, a wild pitch and a hit batter.
The Chippewas' final run came on a Spencer Verburg sacrifice fly in the eighth inning.
Aaron Piasecki had two hits to lead the Chippewas' eight-hit attack.
CMU starter AJ Kostic (0-2) allowed four runs on two hits while walking five and striking out two over 3 1/3 innings. Nate Ross and Dean Brown pitched in relief.
