The senior was named Co-MAC Defensive Player of the Week following CMU’s victory over Eastern Michigan
CLEVELAND — Senior Jozy Allen (Cincinnati, Ohio / Sycamore) collected her second Mid-American Conference Defensive Player of the Week award in the last three weeks, per the league office Tuesday afternoon, sharing the honor with Madison Prietz of Robert Morris.
Â
The two-time all-conference honoree collected eight of CMU's 13 draw controls in the 10-9 conference victory Sunday over Eastern Michigan, two shy of the Eagles' total as a team. She also tallied two caused turnovers, one during the five-goal fourth quarter comeback.
Â
Allen's draw control efforts pushed her past Audrey Whiteside '23 for third all-time at CMU (144). She will need to average five draw controls per game to break Anna Schoonover's '19 single-season record of 89, set in 2018.
Â
The Cincinnati, Ohio-native is second for career caused turnovers (71) at CMU, third in draw controls (144). She tied the program record with 15 draw controls at Canisius (March 12) three days after notching the second-best game in program history for caused turnovers (5) at Niagara (March 9).
Â
Allen is the first Chippewa to repeat as a weekly honoree this season. Senior Alexa Martel (Rochester, N.Y. / Greece Olympia) earned the second week's goalkeeper honor.
Â
Central Michigan Lacrosse visits Robert Morris Saturday (Noon ET) for the first of two games in Pennsylvania, then returns to host Youngstown State (April 13) for Senior Day.
