MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Central Michigan's Ella Zanatta was named on Friday the Mid-American Conference Women's Golfer of the Week for her performance last weekend at the Dolores Black Falcon Invitational at Stone Ridge Golf Club in Bowling Green, Ohio.
Zanatta, a freshman from Hamilton, Ont., earned medalist honors for the first time in her career with back-to-back even-par 71s for a career-low 142 36-hole total.
She recorded six birdies and six bogeys in capturing the title, overcoming a slow start in the final round to play her final 14 holes in 2-under par and win by two shots.
She led the Chippewas to a second-place finish in the seven-team field. Her 142 total ranks as the second-best 36-hole score in program history and her twin 71s matched her career best aggregate low scores.
