Softball Collects Split in Toledo

Central Michigan dropped the first game of the double header against Toledo but rallied to earn the split after the second game.
CMU fell, 3-7 to Toledo opening Tuesday afternoon, but won the second game 10-3.
Central Michigan advances to 20-19 on the season, and 12-5 in MAC play, as Toledo falls to 13-24 and 6-10 in league play. Next up for CMU, a weekend slate of three games with Bowling Green. Game one is scheduled for Friday at 3 p.m. and a double header to close is set for 1 p.m. on Saturday.
Game 1
London Williams ignited the game with a solo home run in the top of the first inning.
Toledo answered with a run of their own via RBI single in the bottom half of the inning to tie it.
Mackenzie Langan took the start for Central Michigan and threw for 2.1 innings where she issued seven hits and allowed five runs.
Toledo scored two runs in the second, third and fourth innings to reach their final of seven runs.
The other two runs for CMU were scored in the top of the fifth inning with a double from senior Allyssa Hollo to score Carly Sleeman and London Williams.
Cierra Laska was first in relief for the pitching staff, throwing one complete inning with two runs scored off two hits. Madison Wendel entered in the fourth inning to face the final two outs, and collected one strikeout.
Madelyn Wallace ended the game for CMU in the circle, facing the final ten batters, allowing just two hits.
Williams and Hollo each charted two hits in the game, while Tori Briggs, Jenna Kuzara and Keira Tolmie each had one as well.
Game 2
A complete game victory for sophomore pitcher, Brooklyn Compau gave CMU victory on their way out of the Glass City.
Compau threw seven complete innings, allowing eight hits, and three runs. All three runs for Toledo were scored in the sixth inning with a three-run home run. Compau struck out four Rockets, the most for any pitcher that threw for both teams all day.
CMU scored seven runs in the sixth inning of game two to break open the lead. CMU led 9-0 heading into the bottom of the sixth.
In the first inning, Central Michigan got on the board early with an RBI single from Jenna Kuzara to score London Williams.
A wild pitch scored Ashley Bila in the third inning. Bila entered as a pinch runner for Allyssa Hollo who reached via single.
The sixth inning scoring started with a single to the shortstop for Rachel Cairo. Maddie Springer entered for her to pinch run, and advanced on a passed ball.
Maddison Diekman singled to the pitcher, and Springer advanced to third.
Tori Briggs delivered a sacrifice fly as a pinch hitter to score Springer. Briggs did not start game two after leaving game one in the third inning with an injury.
A two-run shot from Carly Sleeman, that cleared the scoreboard, gave CMU the 5-0 lead.
London Williams doubled to follow that up and later scored on an RBI single from Grace Koenig.
A double from Keira Tolmie scored Koenig and Hollo, and another single from Cairo scored the final run of the inning in Tolmie.
In the seventh inning, Hollo doubled and scored Cierra Laska who entered as a runner for Williams, who walked.
Allyssa Hollo charted four hits on four at-bats in the second game with a walk as well.
Jenna Kuzara and Rachel Cairo had two hits in the outing, and eight different Chippewas had hits in the final game of the day.
