Yoshino vaults into 5th All-Time at Indiana State, Chippewas wrap up weekend in Terre Haute

Emily Yoshino vaulted the fifth-highest mark, 3.92m, in CMU outdoor track and field history
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — Central Michigan Track and Field wrapped up the weekend at Indiana State's Gibson Invitational on Saturday, complete with 14 personal bests and two season bests from the Chippewa relay squads.
CMU finished fourth of 29 teams with 56 points. Emily Yoshino, Kaitlynn Rush, Chesney Wilke, Lois Creasey, Olivia East, Jessie Gibbins, Gracie Merrick, Emily McLean and both the 4x400 and 4x100 relay teams scored on Saturday, as well as Netzel and Carothers from Friday's steeplechase.
Yoshino, a sophomore, moved up in the record books with a 3.92m vault, which stands at 5th all-time in CMU outdoor track and field history. She won the 20-vaulter event.
Both CMU relay squads ran season-bests. The 4x400 team of Danica Shamion, Libby Munderloh, Grace Jenkins and Robyn Watts placed third with a time of 3:55.85, while the 4x100 squad of Rush, Dior Newson, Mireya Benjamin and Sky Austin ran 47.03 to finish eighth.
Rush finished 2nd in the 100m to score for the Chippewas, racing alongside Benjamin and Newson, who finished 30th and 37th, respectively. Sophia Garland and Austin ran the 200m, finishing 14th and 26th. Garland, a sophomore, ran a personal-best. In the 400m were Shamion, Watts and Grace Jenkins, finishing 22nd, 31st and 40th.
Chippewa hurdlers Libby Munderloh and Jada Pride competed in the 400mH, finishing 10th and 23rd. Pride placed 33rd in the 100mH, alongside Ciara Rosensweig, who placed 30th. Pride ran personal-bests in both races.
Wilke and Creasey placed 1st and 4th in the 800m, alongside Emma Janesak and Gibbins, who placed 11th and 17th, respectively.
East and Gibbins led in the 1500m with 5th and 8th place finishes, followed by Janesak, Wilke and Kate Jenkins in 12th, 13th and 17th. All five ran personal-bests in the event.
Merrick threw a personal-best 48.54m in the hammer throw to score for the Chippewas, finishing 6th in the event. McLean finished 2nd in the shot put with a mark of 13.65m, joined by Ereka Risner in 13th.
Freshman Riley Kerr rounded out the field events with the high jump, clearing 1.55m to finish 16th.
The Chippewas will travel to a pair of in-state meets on April 25 and 26, traveling to Hillsdale on Friday for the Hillsdale Tune-Up and to Allendale on Saturday for the GVSU Extra Weekend Meet.
