Chippewa Throwers, Jumpers Compete at Hillsdale Tune Up

Three Chippewas attain personal bests at Hillsdale
HILLSDALE, Mich. — The throwers and vertical jumpers of Central Michigan Track & Field competed at the HIllsdale Tune Up on Friday, where the Chippewas attained three personal bests across five events.
Sophomore thrower Gracie Merrick threw a personal-best mark of 34.76m in the javelin, her third time achieving a career-best in the event this season. She placed 2nd of 17 competitors.
Merrick additionally competed in the shot put, finishing 5th alongside senior Emily McLean and sophomores Ereka Risner and Amyah Chosa.
McLean finished 2nd with a mark of 13.46m. Chosa finished 6th and Risner placed 7th.
Sophomore Grace Hill finished 20th in the hammer throw with a mark of 26.39m.
Chippewa high jumpers Riley Kerr and Kendell Wilcox, both freshmen, finished 3rd and 5th of 14 competitors, respectively. Kerr jumped a personal-best 1.60m and Wilcox jumped 1.55m.
Sophomore Lynette Cipolla was the lone pole vault competitor for CMU, finishing tied for 11th of 15 with an outdoor personal-best vault of 3.06m.
CMU will brave the chilly weather on Saturday with another in-state road trip, this time to Allendale for the Grand Valley Extra Weekend meet. The Chippewas will field competitors in the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 5000m, 100mH, 400mH, 3000S and long jump events. Both the track and field events are slated to begin at 12 p.m.
