MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The Central Michigan baseball team has earned the Team Academic Excellence Award for the 2024-25 academic year.
The award is presented by the American Baseball Coaches Association and it recognizes college and high school programs from across the nation that achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
"We're very proud of our student-athletes," said Jake Sabol, who is entering his third season as the Chippewas' coach. "This is a prestigious award, well earned, and another example that our priorities are on the academic side as well as in the athletic arena."
It marks the second consecutive season and the fifth time that CMU has been so honored since the ABCA instituted the award in 2016. The Chippewas also received the award in 2016, 2019 and 2020.
