Led by returnees Joe Labas and Jadyn Glasser, six quarterbacks prepare for the 2025 season.
MOUNT PLEASANT—Led by senior Joe Labas and redshirt freshman Jadyn Glasser, who both earned starts last season, Central Michigan will enter the 2025 season with a deep and talented quarterback room. Six quarterbacks are on the Chippewas' roster, including one senior, two juniors, one sophomore, and two freshmen. Three Chippewas returned, two transferred in, and one is a true freshman.
"It's a talented and deep group with a ton of competition and unique skills sets," Central Michigan Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks Coach Jim Chapin said. "Overall, each player has bought in, is tough, is intelligent and it's been exciting to work with them. I'm proud of all the things they've done so far."
"Joe Labas is a really polished passer, he's efficient with a quick release and is accurate," Chapin said. "He started the first six games last year before getting hurt. He's heady and has tremendous attention to detail. The guys respect him. Jadyn Glasser started the last three games as a true freshman and took his lumps a little bit. He's been great since we got here in December. He's terrific in the classroom, terrific off the field and in the weight room. I'm super proud of his maturity and how he's functioned. He also has a terrific arm. I'm proud of the things he's done. Ethan Lane has been in the program for the last couple of years. I knew him from his high school years at Basha. He has put on a ton of weight and has done well athletically in spring and fall camp."
"As far as players we brought in since we arrived in December, Marcus Beamon was an All-American at Butte College and led them to a 10-1 record. He is a gamer, extremely experienced and confident and doesn't blink. The stage is never too big for him. Angel Flores is a transfer from Northern Arizona. In my career I'm 0-1 vs. Angel Flores as a starting quarterback in 2023 as we lost to them 49-42 when I was at Eastern Washington, and I remembered him forever. He is extremely mature, extremely professional, an unbelievable human being, and he embodies what we want in our program. I had a chance to see true freshman Daniel Gomez throw when he was in high school and remembered him. Danny is athletic, tough and smart, a natural thrower. It's been fun to watch him grow so far and he has a bright future."
Last year, Central Michigan quarterbacks completed 55 percent of their passes and combined to throw for 163.42 yards passing per game with 11 touchdowns. Injuries played a key factor as four quarterbacks took snaps. Labas started the first six games before suffering a season-ending injury in game six, Bert Emanuel, Jr. saw action in three games, Tyler Jefferson played in seven contests, and Glasser started the season's final three games.
