Volleyball Drops Final Match in Utah to Fairleigh Dickinson

Chippewas fall to the Knights, 1-3 in the final match of the Utah trip; conclude trip with 1-2 record.
PROVO, Utah – Central Michigan Volleyball fell to Fairleigh Dickinson 1-3 to close out its final match of its its BYU doTerra Classic. The tournament marked the start of the 2025 season.
Central Michigan won the first set, 25-21 as Taylor Cripe led all scorers with four kills and Grace Thomas hit .400 with three kills. Ella Peter, Cripe, Thomas and Abby Olin combined for three blocks for the Chippewas in the first set.
The Chippewas dropped the second set, 16-25 to FDU as the Knights held CMU to a -.222 hitting percentage with just four kills. Karla Sanchez-George made her first appearance for Central Michigan in the second set for CMU and ended the day with seven assists.
In set three, the Chippewas fell to FDU 17-25 and were held to a negative hitting percentage for the second set in a row, hitting -.032. The three blocks for Ella Peter of the match recorded a new career high.
Set four ended the match for CMU when they were outscored 19-25.
Central Michigan concluded the day by hitting .161 with Cripe leading the team with 10 kills. Abby Olin hit .455 with six kills. Molly Beatty, the freshman setter charted 23 assists and the Chippewas aced the Knights 10 times in the four sets.
CMU will head to Milwaukee, Wis. to take on Iowa State, South Alabama, and the host Milwaukee next weekend. The Chippewas will open tournament play at noon against the Cyclones.
