SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Keith Hunter finished with a 10-over par 226 total to tie for 26th place in leading the Central Michigan men's golf team in the Military City Collegiate at TPC San Antonio.
Hunter closed the 54-hole, stroke-play event with a 9-over 81 on Tuesday after a first-round 1-under 71 and a second-round 2-over 74.
Jeffrey Andrus Jr. posted the low score among CMU players in the final round, a 3-over 75, and finished with a 230 total and among a group tied for 43rd in the 69-player field.
Also for the Chippewas on Tuesday, Hudson Vedder shot 78, Aydan Downer posted an 83, and Philippe Yturralde carded an 84.
Vedder finished with a 233 total to finish tied for 52nd, Yturralde finished at 239, and Downer finished at 250.
The Chippewas posted a final-round 317 team score after opening with a 303 and then shooting 307 in the second round. They finished with a 927 total, placing 12th in the 12-team field.
Host UTSA shot a final-round 299 to capture the team title with an 881 total, four shots better than runner-up UTRGV. Middle Tennessee (886) was third.
Joshua Hong of UTSA posted a 2-over 74 in the final round and captured medalist honors with a 1-under 215, one shot clear of Thomas Buisson of Abilene Christian and Arth Sinha of UT Arlington.
The Chippewas are scheduled to play in the Colin Montgomerie HCU Husky Invitational in Houston March 2-3.
