Luciana Alvarado-Reid earns her second career MAC Scholar-Athlete of the Week award.
CLEVELAND — Central Michigan senior Luciana Alvarado-Reid was named the Mid-American Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Week, the league announced on Wednesday afternoon.
The Scholar-Athlete of the Week Award is presented to a MAC male and female student-athlete who has a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and performs well during that week's competition. The winners are selected by a representative of the MAC's Faculty Athletics Representatives (FARs).
Alvarado-Reid maintains a 3.73 grade point average as an English major and will graduate from CMU this May. It is the second time in her career that she has earned this award, the first in March of 2025.
In addition to this award, Alvarado-Reid earned MAC Gymnast of the Week on Tuesday following her performance at the No. 8 Georgia quad meet with Temple and Fisk.
The Cartago, Costa Rica native was the key to the Chippewas' wins over Temple and Fisk last Friday, claiming the all-around title in the quad meet with the score of 39.425; her second highest career all-around score and her 21st all-around win.
She scored 9.875 on bars, beam and floor—as well as a 9.800 posted on vault.
Alvarado-Reid ranks first in the league on bars and floor; nationally, she sits 19th on bars and 33rd on floor. Her scores aided in the Chippewas' season-high final of 195.900 and win over Temple and Fisk.
The last CMU athlete to win this award was linebacker Jordan Kwiatkowski on Nov. 26, 2025.
