Chippewas go to Michigan State on Tuesday, entertain rival Western Michigan in three-game series beginning on Thursday

YPSILANTI, Mich. – Eastern Michigan jumped to a 10-1 lead after three innings on Sunday in handing Central Michigan a 13-7 loss in a Mid-American Conference baseball game at Oestrike Stadium.

The win completed a three-game series sweep for the Eagles and left CMU 9-15, 3-9 MAC.

The Chippewas go to Michigan State for a nonconference game on Tuesday, March 31, and then begin a three-game league series with Western Michigan at home on Thursday, April 2.

The Eagles scored their 10 early runs off two Chippewa pitchers, starter Jared Hanson (1-2) and reliever Jack Griffiths. They surrendered five runs each. Hanson took the loss.

CMU's Cameron Neihaus threw four innings in relief, allowing one run on two hits while striking out four. Gavin Moczydlowsky pitched the eighth, surrendered two runs on two hits.

The Chippewas collected 10 hits and got homers from Harrison Bowman, Logan Keilen and Brody Krzciok. Keilen's two-run shot in the seventh inning drew CMU to 11-7.

Bowman's homer, a three-run blast, was his team-high eighth and Krzciok now has six on the season. Keilen's homer was his third. Keilen led the Chippewas with three hits in extending his hit streak to seven games.
