Cecily Barnaud is her first year as Central Michigan's dedicated student-athlete counselor. She began her duties in January, 2025.
Barnaud came to Central Michigan after spending the previous two years with Black Hills Psychology in Spearfish, South Dakota. She also worked as a mental health counselor at Spearfish High School for nearly four years and served as a clinical counselor with Behavior Management Systems from 2018-21. She developed the athlete mental health program at Spearfish High School.
Barnaud played softball at Briar Cliff University before transferring to Sioux Falls University. She graduated from Dakota Wesleyan University with a bachelor's degree in behaviorial psychology in 2013 and worked at the Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility for three years. In 2017, she earned a master's degree in educational policy and administration from Dakota Wesleyan in 2017.
A native of Mason City, Iowa, Barnaud earned a master's of social work from Arizona State in 2021.
Barnaud is a licensed master social worker in both South Dakota and Michigan and is a member of the Alliance of Social Workers in Sports. Barnaud and her husband, Francois, have three daughters, Quinn, Eden, and Delaney.
