Jason Giecek enters his second season with the Chippewas as the Volunteer Assistant Coach. Giecek joined the Maroon and Gold in August 2013.
His duties for the Chippewas include video breakdown, assist with team travel arrangements, statistical breakdown for matches using the Data Volley statistical analysis system, as well as assist with day-to-day operations.
Giecek has four years of Volleyball Coaching experience at the Division I level. After graduating from Michigan State University in 2012, Giecek became the Volunteer Assistant Coach at Texas State University.
At Texas State University, Jason[apos]s main responsible as a court coach was to develop the defensive specialists and liberos. He was the video exchange liaison and assisted in generating scouting reports.
While at Texas State University, Giecek coached club volleyball at the Volleyball Academy of Texas where he was the head coach of the 14 Black team and managed overall direction and performance of the team.
At Michigan State, Giecek served as a student manager for the Women[apos]s Volleyball team for two seasons (2011-2012). Some of his responsibilities included video breakdown and analysis using Data Volley, court setup, and served as a practice player.
As a player at Michigan State University, Giecek contributed four years on MSU Men[apos]s Club Volleyball Elite team as a setter. He served as captain during his junior and senior campaigns. He was selected to the All-Big Team during 2011 and 2012 seasons. Jason was the Vice President of the club and a member of the Executive Board during his final two seasons at Michigan State.
Giecek earned his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Michigan State. He is currently working toward a Master of Arts in Sport Administration from Central Michigan.
