Allenia Ponder began her duties as Central Michigan Athletics' Learning Specialist in January 2024. Her many duties include providing personalized academic counseling and support for student-athletes and serving as the main point of contact for assigned sports.
A Smyrna, Ga. native, Ponder joins the Central Michigan Athletic Department after spending the last several years as a women's basketball coach. She worked as a Graduate Assistant with the Georgia State University women's basketball team from 2021-23. She also was a part-time basketball coach wit the Georgia Pistols from 2022-24. Ponder also served as a high school official for several sports.
A 2021 graduate of Kentucky State University with a bachelor's degree in Kinesiology and Exercise Science, Ponder played three years of basketball and served as a PCA Mentor, Counselor, and Resident Assistant. Ponder went on to earn a Master of Science degree from Georgia State in May 2023.
A decorated athlete, Ponder played women's basketball and softball, competed in track and field and was a member of the National Honor Society at Marietta High School (Ga.).
