Wrestlers Beat NIU; Remain Undefeated In MAC Action

MOUNT PLEASANT -- The Central Michigan Chippewas (5-4-1) improved to 2-0 in the Mid-American Conference by defeating Northern Illinois, 33-3, on Friday night at Rose Arena.
Central Michigan's Jeremy Hardman (Constantine/Sr.) pinned J.C. Gaunt in 1:43 to remain undefeated in his last four matches. All-American Chris Vike (Stoughton, WI/Sr.) opened the match with a 16-3 major decision over Justin Goebel at 197. Two other Chippewas scored major decisions. Russell Clark (Holt/Fr.) at 157 and All-American Ryan Cunningham (Middleton/Sr.) at 174. The Chippewas' final home match of the season is next Sunday, Feb. 6, at Rose Arena when they take on MAC rival Ohio University at 2 p.m.
