Rozak Keys Women's Basketball 69-67 Win Over EMU

MOUNT PLEASANT--A pair of Alicia Rozak free throws with two seconds left gave the Central Michigan University women's team (8-12 overall, 5-4 Mid-American Conference) a 69-67 win over Eastern Michigan University (9-11 overall, 3-6 Mid-American Conference) on Saturday afternoon in Rose Arena.
Rozak scored the last five points of the game to give the Chippewas the victory. She hit a free throw at 1:39, nailed a jumper with 47 seconds left to tie the score at 67-67 and then the two free throws at the end to snap the tie.
The Chippewas held a 54-46 lead with 9:52 to go in the game before the Eagles went on 6-0 run to cut the lead to two with 8:16 to go. Eastern led, 67-64, with 1:48 to go before Rozak took control of game.
The first half featured five lead changes before EMU went into the lockerroom with a 34-29 halftime advantage.
Shelly Woods led the Chippewas with 23 points while Molli Munz added 18. Rozak scored 15 with seven rebounds, three steals, two blocked shots and three assists. Jodi Culbertson scored 13 points including three three-pointers to set CMU's season record with 56.
EMU's Kristy Maska scored a game-high 25 points while Stephanie Smiley had 13, Abby Wiseman 12 and Kris Kachaturoff 11.
The Chippewas are off until hosting Western Michigan on Feb. 5.
