A two-way guard and freshman standout from NCAA II Saint Leo joins the Chippewas for 2026-27
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. — Central Michigan Women's Basketball signed Jailenn Green (Lexington, Ky. / George Rogers Clark) Thursday afternoon to bring the roster to 11 Chippewas for the 2026-27 season.
"Jailenn fits our system perfectly," Head Coach Kristin Haynie said. "She's the kind of player who impacts the game on both ends of the floor. She's also a gym rat who's constantly working to elevate her game, and that mindset is exactly what we love in our program."
The rising sophomore guard out of NCAA II Saint Leo posted 13.4 points and over two steals in 21.5 minutes per game for the Lions, second and third on the team, respectively.
"Defensively, she's a relentless presence; she loves to press and create chaos, getting deflections and steals. Offensively, she's a true three-level scorer."
Green produced five 20-point games for Saint Leo last season, many of which came with a field goal percentage at or above 45 percent, including a 28-point explosion against Barry early in Sunshine State Conference play.
Defensively, she collected 10 games with three-plus steals. Her season-best of five takeaways against Central Missouri occurred in her fourth collegiate contest.
"The way Central Michigan women's basketball plays matches my style," Green said, "and I can see myself growing and making an impact in their system."
Green's signing came on the day of her visit to campus, signaling an impactful connection on both sides from the start.
"I really value the relationships I've built with the coaches … they've shown belief in me, and I trust them to help me develop as a player and person.
"On top of that, the team culture stood out to me. The players seem close, competitive, and supportive, which is exactly the kind of environment I want to be part of."
Green graduated from George Rogers Clark High School in Winchester, Ky. as a back-to-back regional champion and all-state selection in 2025, including an appearance in the KHSAA state final as a senior. Prone to clutch performances, Green tallied a game-high 22 points in the 2025 KHSAA Sweet 16 victory over Franklin-Simpson, 64-42, en route to the state title game in Lexington.
Central Michigan Women's Basketball posted a second consecutive multi-win improvement for the first time since 2005-06 in the third season under Head Coach Kristin Haynie. The Chippewas tallied an 18-12 record overall, 12-6 in the Mid-American Conference—improvements of four and three wins, respectively.
CMU defeated a power-conference opponent for the first time since Dec. 2018 (Nov. 30 vs. Purdue), retained the Michigan MAC Trophy in sweeping in-state rivals Western Michigan and Eastern Michigan, and again was a national frontrunner in rebounding—seventh in NCAA I in rebounding margin (10.4) on the season.
