A pair of Michigan Gatorade Player of the Year honorees and former ESPN Top 100 recruits return home to a familiar face
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. — The ones that got away have come home at last.
Central Michigan Women's Basketball signed twins Indya Davis and Summer Davis (Detroit, Mich. / West Bloomfield) over the weekend to finish off the 2026-27 roster.
"I couldn't be more excited that this worked out," Head Coach Kristin Haynie said. "I recruited them while I was at Michigan State, so this relationship has been long-lasting. We are thankful to be bringing Michigan players back home. Our fans are going to love watching them play; they fit who we are on and off the court."
The duo led West Bloomfield to three straight MHSAA state title games (2022-24), winning the 2022 and 2024 championships.
"Indya and Summer are true gym rats with a nonstop motor and an elite work ethic."
Both sisters earned Michigan Gatorade Player of the Year honors in the process—Indya in 2023, Summer in 2024—along with a laundry list of accolades that featured McDonald's All-America nominations, all-state acclaim from multiple outlets and were also academic all-state honorees all four years at West Bloomfield.
"Indya's the kind of player every coach looks for: versatile, physical, and relentless. She knows how to win, and she competes with an edge that sets her apart."
"Summer is a complete player who understands how to affect the game on both ends. Her ability to play with the ball in her hands as well as off the ball, brings so much to our team and fits our system perfectly.
The pair have been teammates every step of the way, choosing Georgia out of high school then Georgetown as sophomores before finding their way back to the mitten for their junior year.
Summer has appeared in 58 collegiate games across the two stops. She logged 13 starts as a true freshman with the Bulldogs, eight in Southeastern Conference play, with four double-digit scoring games; she tallied her first career double-double early in her tenure at Georgetown against George Mason, playing 31 minutes from the bench.
Indya has logged 41 career appearances with a career-high 14 points, four steals for Georgetown last season against George Washington, the first of two double-digit scoring games with the Hoyas. Her collegiate debut was in Georgia's 2024-25 season-opener, a dominant Bulldog victory over North Carolina Central in which she logged season-highs in points, rebounds and assists.
Central Michigan Women's Basketball posted a second consecutive multi-win improvement for the first time since 2005-06 in the third season under Head Coach Kristin Haynie. The Chippewas tallied an 18-12 record overall, 12-6 in the Mid-American Conference—improvements of four and three wins, respectively.
CMU defeated a power-conference opponent for the first time since Dec. 2018 (Nov. 30 vs. Purdue), retained the Michigan MAC Trophy in sweeping in-state rivals Western Michigan and Eastern Michigan, and again was a national frontrunner in rebounding—seventh in NCAA I in rebounding margin (10.4) on the season.
