Field Hockey Loses To Kent State

MOUNT PLEASANT--The Central Michigan University field hockey team closed out its home season with a 4-1 loss to Kent State University on Saturday afternoon at Kelly/Shorts Stadium.
CMU's record falls to 8-8 overall and 4-4 in the Mid-American Conference.
Kent State scored a pair of goals in the first half to take a 2-0 advantage. Helen Jerden scored with 19:55 left in the opening half while Arlette Van Cleeff scored at the 5:53 mark.
Melissa Lazarevski (Rochester, NY/Jr.) got CMU on the scoreboard with 29:37 left in the game to make it 2-1.
The Chippewas couldn't get any closer down the stretch while KSU scored two more goals to secure the victory. Jerden scored for the Golden Flashes with 5:53 left and scored her third goal of the game with one second left.
CMU goalie Janel Spero (Shoreham, NY/So.) made 14 saves while Kent's Jodi Lume made one save.
Central closes the regular season next weekend on the road at Louisville on Friday and Miami on Saturday.
