Women's Basketball Cruises To Win Over Wofford

MOUNT PLEASANT--The Central Michigan women's basketball team used a strong first half to cruise to a 75-58 win over Wofford College on Sunday afternoon at Rose Arena.
The win improves CMU's record to 2-4 on the year while Wofford falls to 3-2.
The Chippewas came out scoring in the opening half of play. Wofford held a 4-3 lead early in the game but the Chippewas went on a 13-0 run to take a 16-4 lead at the 14:25 mark.
CMU kept up its strong play in the late stages of the opening stanza, building its lead to 29-8 with 8:17 to play. The Chippewas then closed the half with a 4-0 run to go into the half with a 46-20 lead.
Central shot .515 (17-33) in the first half while holding Wofford to .346 (9-26).
Beth Kindel (Clare/Fr.) scored 12 points and Molli Munz (Bellefontaine/Jr.) had 10 in the opening half to power the Chippewa offense.
CMU increased its lead to 27 points (48-21) in the opening stages of the second half before Wofford went on a 9-0 run to slice the lead to 52-36.
Central then went on a 10-1 run to up the lead to 64-42 and secure the win.
Munz led the Chippewas with 17 points. She also added six rebounds, four assists and three steals.
Kindel had 14 points while Vershaun Jones (Detroit/Jr.) added 10.
Wofford was led by Nancy Dubuisson and Jenny Nett who each had 16 points.
Up next for CMU is a road game at Detroit on Dec. 9 at 2 p.m.
