Women's Basketball Falls To Detroit

DETROIT--Alicia Rozak scored a career-high 26 points but it wasn't enough as Detroit defeated the Central Michigan women's team, 83-71, on Saturday afternoon at Calihan Hall.
The loss drops CMU's record to 2-5 while Detroit is 5-3.
The game was tight in the early going with seven lead changes and four ties. Detroit took the lead for good on a layup by Anne Yoches to make it 20-19 with 10:45 to play in the opening half.
Detroit the went on an 8-2 run to jump to a 30-23 advantage at the 5:52 mark. The Titans took control in the final three minutes of the half to build their lead to 11 points (42-31).
Rozak hit a three-pointer with 44 seconds to go into the half to slice the Titan lead to 42-34 at the halftime break.
Detroit went on an 8-0 run early in the second half to build its lead to 53-36 with 17:50 to play.
The Chippewas cut the lead to seven points with 14 minutes to play but Detroit responded with seven straight points to bump the lead back up to 14 (64-50) with 12:23 to go.
The Titans didn't let the Chippewas get any closer than 11 points the rest of the way to secure the victory.
Rozak shot 10-of-20 from the field, 5-of-7 from the three-point line and 1-of-3 from the charity stripe in scoring her game-high 26. She also added four rebounds, three assists, one blocked shot and two steals.
Molli Munz scored 17 points and also added five rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Vershaun Jones had a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Shari Hill led the Titans with 22 points while Randee Henry had 20.
The Chippewas have a break for final exams and return to action on Dec. 17 at Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
