MOUNT PLEASANT - Central Michigan University head women's basketball coach Fran Voll has filled out his coaching staff with the addition of Ina Nicosia, Kristin Nobach and Renee Bostic.
"When we began our search, a priority was placed on potential candidates that could connect with all aspects of the program," Voll said. "I feel we've accomplished that with this group of true professionals. They will bring in a great level of expertise and new ideas that will enhance our program."
Nicosia will serve as the first assistant after filling the role of assistant coach at James Madison for two seasons. She also coached the Belgian Junior National Team from 1995-96 and played professionally in Belgium for two seasons.
"Ina has a great playing and coaching background and will concentrate on coaching our post play," Voll said. "She's one of the more well known young coaches nationally, and she surfaced immediately in our search."
Nicosia played basketball collegiately at the University of Richmond where she was also a four-time all-conference selection on the UR track team. She earned all-conference honors in basketball in 1995 after leading the league in rebounding. Nicosia was graduated from Richmond in 1994 with a bachelor of arts in communications.
Nobach spent the past two seasons as an assistant at Ohio Northern University under Kim Chandler, a former assistant of Voll's at Bowling Green. She also served as an assistant at Aquinas College for one year.
"Kristin hails from Fowler and played collegiately at Grand Valley," Voll said. "She knows the state of Michigan and will serve as a strong force in our recruiting endeavors. She will also work with our perimeter players."
Nobach played at Grand Valley where she was team captain her senior year. She was named GVSU Defensive Player of the Year in 1995 and Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference All-Academic in 1996. Nobach also played at Spring Arbor for two seasons where she was captain and MVP twice each and a National Christian College Athletic Association All-American in 1994. She led Fowler to the Class D state championship in 1992 on her way to all-state honors. Nobach earned a bachelor of science in fitness/wellness and athletic training from GVSU in 1996.
Bostic was the first assistant at American International College for the past two years.
"We're extremely happy to have someone of Renee's caliber coming into the program," Voll said. "She played in a strong program at Holy Cross and was the lone assistant at American International where she worked in all aspects of that program. She's beyond her years in terms of experience."
Bostic played three seasons at Holy Cross where she led the team to back-to-back Patriot League championships and NCAA tournament appearances in 1995 and '96. Bostic began her playing career at Clark University. She was graduated from Holy Cross in 1996 with a bachelor of arts in sociology/African American studies.
