Chippewas Fall To Ferris State

MOUNT PLEASANT - Central Michigan University (2-8) dropped a 67-60 decision to Ferris State University (6-3) on Wednesday night in Rose Arena.
The Chippewas took control in the early going of the first half, holding a 20-10 advantage with 11:12 to go. CMU increased its lead to 12 points before the Bulldogs scored the final six points of the first half to cut the Chippewa lead to 34-29 at the break.
Ferris State came out in the second half and chipped away at the CMU lead. FSU's Dana Bull tied the game at 42-42 on a layup at the 13:35 mark and Jen Newsone gave the Bulldogs their first lead (44-42) since the early stages of the game with a bucket at 12:32. There would be three more ties before Dawn Baker gave Ferris State the lead for good with a jumper at 7:54 to make it 51-49. The Bulldogs made their free throws down the stretch to ice the win.
The Chippewas were led by senior Shelly Woods with 16 points while senior Jodi Culbertson had 15. Sophomore Alicia Rozak posted her first career double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Ferris State was led by Amy Poplielarz who had a game-high 23 points. Dawn Baker had 10 points while Tianna Kirkland had a game-high 12 rebounds.
The Chippewas travel to Ohio on Jan. 2.
