MOUNT PLEASANT -- Central Michigan (6-4-1, 3-0 Mid-American) defeated Ohio, 19-13, to earn its 12th-straight MAC win on Sunday in Rose Arena.
The Chippewas winning streak dates back to Jan. 25, 1998 when they last lost to Ohio, 22-17.
All-American Chris Vike (Stoughton, WI/Sr.) won a crucial early decision over Mark Shrout at 197, 6-3. Vike's victory was one of two for Central Michigan in the first five matches. At 157, Russell Clark (Holt/Fr.) earned his second MAC win which gave the Chippewas the lead for good. In a close match, Clark scored two points in the final 20 seconds to defeat Tom Seryak, 7-5.
Central Michigan will be on the road next weekend to battle two tough teams. On Feb. 12, the Chippewas head to Buffalo and on Feb. 13 they take on a No. 8-ranked Edinboro squad.
