Women's Track Finishes Fourth At MAC Finals

BUFFALO, NY--The Central Michigan University women's track and field team took fourth place at the Mid-American Conference championships held May 18-20 at the University at Buffalo.
Ball State won the title with 157 points and was followed by Kent State (151.50), Eastern Michigan (137.50), Central Michigan (106), Akron (94.50), Toledo (42), Buffalo (41.50), Bowling Green (35), Ohio (20.50), Western Michigan (18) and Miami (13.50).
Kari Karhoff (Durand/Jr.) and Andrea Baker (Ft. Wayne, IN/Sr.) led the Chippewas with first-place finishes.
Karhoff won a pair of titles, taking top honors in the 400m (52.99) and the 400m hurdles (58.34) while Baker took first in the 100m hurdles (13.73). Karhoff earned the Outstanding Performance of the the meet after winning the 400m and 400m hurdles.
Other point scorers for CMU included: Suzy Bozin (Washington/So.) fourth in the high jump (5-6), Jillian Hinds (Traverse City/Fr.) fourth in the pole vault (10-10), Melissa Brousseau (Alpena/Jr.) fourth in the discus (146-11), Amber Bright (Lake Ann/Fr.) sixth in the 400m hurdles (1:03.19), Andrea Pullen (Grandville/Sr.) sixth in the 1,500m (4:34.94) and seventh in the 5,000m (17:09.02), Desha Feldpausch (Fowler/So.) seventh in the 400m (56.71) and eighth in the 400m hurdles (1:04.84) and Brook Creed (Walkerville/So.) seventh in the 1,500m (4:37.31). the 4x100m relay team took second (45.79) and the 4x400m relay squad finished third (3:45.68).
