Gymnastics Finishes Second At MSU

LANSING--The Central Michigan gymnastics team opened the 2001 campaign with a second-place finish at the Michigan State Invitational held on Saturday night at The Summit.
Iowa won the meet with a score of 193.600 and was followed by Central Michigan with a mark of 193.550 and Michigan State with a 191.075.
Junior Bethany Couturier won the all-around (39.075) and tied for first in the balance beam (9.875). She also tied for third on the vault with a 9.725 and tied for sixth on the bars with a 9.775.
Sophomore Tammy Verrinder tied for second in the all-around with a career-high 39.000. Verrinder also tied for fourth on the bars with a 9.80.
Sophomore Michele Orloski took second on the floor exercise with a 9.825, senior Laura Chow finished sixth on the beam with a 9.775 and senior Andrea Price tied for sixth on the bars with a career-high 9.775.
The Chippewas are back in action on Jan. 21 when they travel to Western Michigan.
