Luciana Alvarado-Reid earns her third career MAC Scholar-Athlete of the Week award.
CLEVELAND — Central Michigan senior Luciana Alvarado-Reid was named the Mid-American Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Week, the league announced on Thursday.
The Scholar-Athlete of the Week Award is presented to a MAC male and female student-athlete who has a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and performs well during that week's competition. The winners are selected by a representative of the MAC's Faculty Athletics Representatives (FARs).
Alvarado-Reid maintains a 3.73 grade point average as an English major and will graduate from CMU this May. It is the third time in her career that she has earned this award, first two in March 2025 and Feb. 2026.
The Cartago, Costa Rica native was key to the Chippewas' victory at the MAC Championships last Saturday. She claimed three event titles, vault (9.850), beam (9.875) and all-around (39.325). The senior also secured second on floor with a 9.900 and scored a 9.700 on bars.
Alvarado-Reid was awarded MAC Gymnast of the Year for the second year in a row and earned MAC Senior Gymnast of the Year.
Alvarado-Reid will compete in the Lexington Regional with the Chippewas on April 2 and as an individual all-arounder on April 3 if the team should not advance.
The Chippewas swept the MAC Scholar-Athlete award this week as Harrison Bowman, an outfielder for CMU Baseball, also secured the honor.
