ATHENS, Ohio--Central Michigan extended its Mid-American Conference winning streak to 15 with a 19-15 victory over Ohio University on Sunday afternoon.
The win improves CMU's record to 10-5 overall and 1-0 in the MAC.
Ahmad Sanders (Flint/Sr.) began the day strong with a 10-4 decision at the 125 weight class. After an Ohio victory at 133, the Chippewas earned consecutive victories by Jason Mester (Mineral Point, Wis./Fr.) who picked up a 2-0 decision at 141 and Ty Morgan (New Carlisle, Ohio/Fr.) who claimed a 6-3 decision at 149. Kevin Carr (Milford, Ind./Fr.) picked up a 2-1 decision at 174. The Chippewas finished the day strong picking up victories in their last two matches by Brett Faustman (Mason/So.) who knocked off No. 11-ranked Dan Bednar in an 8-6 decision at 197 and Jack Leffler (Morris, Ill./Jr.) who won 15-4 at heavyweight.
The Chippewas return to the mat this Sunday, Jan . 28, when they host Eastern Michigan University at Rose Arena. Action is slated to begin at 2 p.m.
