Women's Basketball Downed By Ball State

MOUNT PLEASANT--Ball State scored the first 12 points of the game to roll to an 87-62 win over Central Michigan on Saturday afternoon at Rose Arena.
The loss drops CMU's record to 3-10 overall and 0-2 in the Mid-American Conference while Ball State improves to 10-3 overall and 2-0 in the conference.
The Cardinals took control of the game from the opening tip. Ball State jumped to a quick 12-0 lead before CMU got on the board with a bucket from Desiree Eidson to make it 12-2 at the 16:08 mark.
Eidson scored CMU's first 10 points to keep the Chippewas in the game in the early going. She nailed two jumpers and two three-pointers to cut BSU's lead to 15-10 with 13:05 to go in the opening half.
Ball State answered with a 12-2 run to quickly increase its lead to 15 points (30-15) with 7:12 to go.
BSU led by as many as 17 points late in the half before going into the half with a 44-30 advantage.
The Chippewas scored the first bucket in the second half to make it 44-32 but Ball State quickly found its scoring touch from the first half. BSU followed CMU's basket with six straight points to make it 51-32 at the 17:09 mark.
Central got as close as 16 points three times before BSU built its lead to as many as 31 points. CMU scored the final six points of the game to make the final mark 87-62.
Alicia Rozak led CMU with 17 points and a game-high 15 rebounds. She also added four assists and two steals.
Eidson was the other Chippewa in twin figures with 12.
Ball State was led by Tamara Bowie who had 18 points and 11 rebounds. Johna Goff added 15 points while Shala Crook chipped in 13.
The Chippewas return to action on Tuesday, Jan. 9, when they travel to Bowling Green.
