Women's Basketball Falls To BGSU

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio--It was a tale of two halves in Central Michigan's 82-63 loss to Bowling Green on Tuesday night at Anderson Arena.
The Chippewas led for most of the opening stanza of action. CMU built an early four-point lead in the early minutes of the game before the Falcons came back to take a 12-10 lead with 13:45 to go.
CMU quickly reclaimed the lead on a bucket by Beth Kindel to make it 14-12 at the 11:51 mark.
Central built its first-half lead to as many as eight points before the Falcons came back to cut the lead to two points (35-33) at the half.
The second half was all Bowling Green as the Falcons took a 38-37 lead on a basket by Kelly Kapferer and never looked back.
The Falcons quickly built their lead to 10 points (49-39) with 14:42 to go in the game.
CMU would get as close as seven points twice but BGSU put CMU away with an 8-3 run to give the Falcons a commanding 71-56 lead.
Bowling Green closed the game by making six straight free throws to give the Falcons the final margin of victory.
The loss drops CMU's record to 3-11 overall and 0-3 in the Mid-American Conference while Bowling Green improves to 7-7 overall and 3-0 in the MAC.
The Chippewas were led by a pair of players in twin figures. Bowling Green native Desiree Eidson posted a double-double with a game-high 18 points and 10 rebounds. She was 8-of-13 from the floor and 2-of-4 from the charity stripe and added two assists and two steals.
Kindel chipped in 11 points and seven rebounds for the Chippewas.
Bowling Green had six players score in double figures. Francine Miller led the Falcons with 17 points while Angie Farmer had 15. Afra Smith and Dana Western each scored 13 and Kelly Kapferer and Kim Griech both added 10 points.
The Chippewas return to action on Saturday when they travel to Miami.
