Women's Basketball Falls In Overtime To Marshall

HUNTINGTON, W.Va.--Central Michigan made a bid to post its first conference win of the season when it took Marshall to overtime on Tuesday night but the result was the same as the Thundering Herd posted an 80-75 win.
The loss extends the Chippewas' losing streak to five games and drops its record to 3-13 overall and 0-5 in the Mid-American Conference. Marshall improves to 8-7 overall and 2-2 in the MAC.
The Chippewas led late in the game but the Thundering Herd went on an 11-1 at the end of the game to tie the game at 68-68 at the end of regulation.
The Thundering Herd continued its dominance in the overtime outscoring CMU, 12-7, to post the victory.
Central had held the advantage for much of the game. CMU took a 12-4 lead in the early stages of the game and increased its lead to as many as 18 points in the second half.
CMU was led by Beth Kindel who had 17 points and 14 rebounds. Tara Petrie added 16 points and Abby Lawinger chipped in 13.
The Thundering Herd were led by Au'Yana Ferguson who had 20 points and 14 rebounds and Amy Reed who added 12 points and 10 rebounds.
The Chippewas return to Rose Arena on Saturday to host Ohio. Tipoff on "Take A Kid To The Game Day" is set for 2 p.m.
