Michigan Cruises Past Grapplers, 28-8

ANN ARBOR -- The Central Michigan wrestling team fell to the fourth-ranked Michigan Wolverines in Ann Arbor on Saturday night, 28-8.
Jack Leffler (Morris, Ill./Sr.) and Derek Phillips (Grosse Pointe/Jr.) were the only two Chippewas to post victories.
With the match opening with the 174-pounders, Michigan jumped out to a 12-0 lead with a major decision and two tech falls. Leffler put four points on the board for the Chippewas when he garnered a major decision at heavyweight. He dispensed of Michigan's Steve Heleniak, 11-3.
Michigan put up six more points with wins at 125 and 133. Phillips stepped up at 141 and got the upset victory when he toppled No. 11-ranked Clark Foward. Phillips earned a major decision, 12-4.
Michigan closed the the dual with decisions at 149 and 165 and a mjor decision at 157.
The Chippewas return to the mat in Reno, Nev., when they take part in the Reno Tournament of Champions on Dec. 20.
