Women's Basketball Falls To Toledo

TOLEDO, Ohio -- Strong shooting and defense led Toledo to a 74-53 win over Central Michigan on Saturday night at Savage Hall.
The Rockets improved their record to 19-5 overall and 12-1 in the Mid-American Conference while the Chippewas fall to 3-21 overall and 0-13 in the conference.
CMU scored the first points of the game on a three-pointer by Desiree Eidson but Toledo went on a 21-3 run to take a commanding 21-6 lead.
The Chippewas got as close as 10 points in the opening half before going into the halftime break trailing the Rockets, 32-18.
Toledo kept control of the game in the second half. The Chippewas made it an 11-point game early in the second stanza but the Rockets quickly ran its lead up to 18 points (46-28).
Late in the half the Chippewas sliced the lead to 61-50 but the Rockets scored the final 10 points of the game to secure the win.
Desiree Eidson led the Chippewas with 16 points while Vershaun Jones had 12 points and 13 rebounds.
Kahli Carter led the Rocket offense with a career-high 33 points and 19 rebounds. Tia Davis added 13 points and Courtney Risinger 11.
CMU returns to Rose Arena to take on Western Michigan on Feb. 21.
